MEMBERSHIP MEETING RECAP ”” SITE SELECTION INSIGHTS ”” Parker Poe Consulting
November 13th, 2025
Site selection decisions shape the trajectory of economic development projects across the country, and Select Oklahoma’s November Membership Meeting in Pryor provided members with a closer look at how those decisions are made. Nelson Lindsay and Azad Khan of Parker Poe Consulting ”“ Location Solutions shared insights into how site consultants evaluate communities, identify competitive locations, and guide companies through the location decision process. Their discussion highlighted the importance of clear data, speed of response, and a community’s ability to demonstrate workforce capacity, infrastructure readiness, and strong utility partnerships. For economic development practitioners, the session reinforced that preparation, transparency, and regional collaboration often determine whether a community stays competitive during the early stages of a project.
The meeting was hosted at MidAmerica Industrial Park, where members also gained firsthand insight into one of Oklahoma’s most significant industrial assets. In addition to the presentation, attendees had the opportunity to participate in site tours, including visits to the Google data center and nearby Cherokee Nation industrial sites led by Andy McMillan. These visits offered a practical look at how large-scale industrial sites are positioned and presented during real-world recruitment efforts.
If you weren’t there, you missed a candid look into how site consultants approach projects and what communities can do to position themselves more competitively. The conversation offered practical takeaways on presenting community assets, organizing information for consultants, and building trust throughout the recruitment process.
